VANS Design Lab

In fall of 2018 I participated in the LCAD and Vans honors design lab. In this class I learned about footwear design and created three lines of shoes for men, women, and kids. After the class I earned the internship at Vans in footwear color and design.

The Outlaws

WILD | FREE | WESTERN

This direction is a throwback to the days of the wild west and the american frontier. The shoes resemble fun western cow boy boots and have lots of detail in the metals and eyelets, with fun leather patterns and details.

Skate Camp

SUMMER CAMP | 70s | SCOUTING

This direction is full of fun vector patterns and patches. Inspired by vintage scout imagery and notebooks full of plant information. The colors are subdued and warm for a summer at camp.

Follies

ANTIQUE | LUXE | 20s

This direction draws inspiration from the 1920s showgirls and follies. Unlike dancers today, the follies were dressed in very detailed outfits with lots of bling and texture. The Great Zigfeld was a place where woman could be independent and earn a wage, empowering women to take control of their sexuality. I focused in on the elaborate head dresses from the time for the pattern and material direction.
